Rich in Bag-making experience and innovation – A‑ROO Company pioneered, innovated and was the very first company to offer a standard and stock range of Polypropylene Bags for Head Lettuce and a variety of Wet-Rack type Produce such as Leaf Lettuce and Greens. When Lettuce arrived to market unbagged – the various supermarkets’ Produce Department’s bagged and unitized all the fresh produce. A‑ROO Company developed a useful range of standard bags that were Easy-To-Use and merchandised the fresh Produce product with its superior film clarity and other desirable characteristics like denier.

Side Seal (SW) Plastic Bags – sometimes referred to in the trade as Sideweld Bags, are the plastic bags of automation and are both rapid loading for the packager and they are rapid making for the bag-maker. Constructed from slit lay-flat plastic single wound sheeting of either Polyethylene or Polypropylene Film these bags have the characteristic of being stacked one on top of the other if wicketted or in bundles. The film is folded in a desired dimension along one side of the machine feeding direction to suit the fill capacity and length of bag needed. The folded film is then heat sealed by means of a hot knife or wire to weld closed the sides and cut the bag to the desired width.
Custom SW Bags are available in a variety of materials and thicknesses; they can be printed or plain and can also include either a top header (re-inforced or non-reinforced) and / or a bottom gusset. Headers can be re-inforced to support weight and allow for the enclosed product to be hung for sale. Non-reinfoced/ unsupported (by a supplementary strip of plastic film or substrate) Headers on SW Bags. Bottom Gussets are made in the bottom area to add a third dimension of volume filling and to ‘square-off’ the bottom area of the bag. This allows the bags to be filled and then stood up on their bottom end for display or packing purposes
SW Bags are prevalent and in use in many industries.
