Headers are an added special feature. A Header adds value to your product and to your package when they are added to custom Side Seal (SW) Plastic Bags.
While Wicketted Bags are the “Bags of Automation”, Header-Type Bags are the “Bags of Promotion” and help make a product ‘Retail-Ready.’
Header Bags are made and constructed on Side-Seal SW Bags from slit lay-flat plastic single wound sheeting of either Polyethylene or Polypropylene Film. The film is folded in a desired dimension along one side of the machine feeding direction to suit the fill capacity and length of bag needed. The folded film is then heat sealed by means of a hot knife or hot wire to weld closed the sides and cut the bag to the desired width.

Reinforced Header
A Header can be added to this style construction Plastic Bags by adding film to the bottom area of a bag – opposite the open or loading end. Product is loaded in the bag upside down, the bag is sealed after loading and then when inverted Header side up – the Header is now on top of the package and provides a useful promotional panel for graphics and identifying features of the product.
Header Bags and Sleeves open up a new potential for food products – Perishable Foods do not often lend themselves to ‘Rack Jobbing’ or being hung within a package for sales at retail due to their high perishability – need for refrigeration, etc., but with the advent of new age films that allow for extended shelf-life for even highly perishable and fragile products makes Header Bags and Sleeves a feature that is coming of age – even for Food and highly perishable Floral Products.
The Layers in the Reinforced Header
Headers are either made in a reinforced (RH) or non-reinforced (NRH) style of construction. A simple explanation of the difference in these two Header styles is – RH = is a supported Header by means of an added strip or piece of plastic synthetic material or substrate in varying thicknesses and is sealed inside the Header and the support material’s thickness provides the Header with substance, strength and form to support the weight of the product contained. A Header with a strategically placed Header Hole(s) allows the product to be hung on a wire hanger at retail. A Non-Reinfoced Header simply does not need or require the additional support of an added material for support.
Header Bags and Sleeves allow products the added ability to be sold off of a rack designed to hold hanging products in a store and are popularly used by "Rack Jobbers" who provide various products to retailers on hanging racks.
